HORSEHEADS - [WENY] You need clean water to make beer, that's why Birdland Brewing of Horseheads and the Friends of the Chemung River Watershed announced a partnership earlier today.
Birdland Brewing unveiled its new brew "Osprey", in honor of the birds nesting in the Chemung River. The company will donate part of osprey brew sales to the River Friends. The money will be used help keep the Chemung River clean, promote river safety and education.
Dennis Edwards, the co-owner of Birdland Brewing said, "It's a really light colored pale ale, and it has a light citrus taste."
Jim Pfiffer, the Executive Director of Friends of the Chemung River Watershed said, "There's no downside to it! You are enjoying a beer, you're helping a local business, you're helping river friends take care of the river, the birds, and the environment, so it works out for everyone."
Osprey will not be the only flavor on tap to help the river, Birdland Brewing is planning more in the future.
