Senate Passes Child Porn Viewing Bill
Written By: Laura Caso
ALBANY (WENY)---The New York State Senate passed legislation Tuesday that would make viewing of child pornography online a felony crime.
This is all part of an agreement between the Senate, Assembly and Governor Cuomo, making a person guilty of a crime when knowingly accessing child pornography with the intent to view.
The legislation comes after a state Court of Appeals ruling in May that said viewing child pornography on the Internet is not a crime.
This legislation closes that loophole.
The bill has been sent to the Assembly.
