ELMIRA (WENY) -- It was music to the ears of employees and supporters of the Chemung County Nursing Facility, when County Executive Tom Santulli announced he's recommending not selling it.
The recommendation comes after a year long comprehensive review, and a new contract with union employees. Santulli says the new labor agreement, and reorganizing therapy services will bring in an estimated $2 Million a year. His recommendation is based on one of two options laid out by the County Legislature.
"We are going to enhance out revenues and keep our facility a county facility and keep our employees county employees," said Santulli.
Santulli rejected the other option -- to sell, after The county got seven bids on the facility ranging from $7.5 Million to $10 Million.
"I think that the final piece of the puzzle that we were getting is a getting a revised agreement, which we succeeded on getting in two votes in the last two weeks," said Nursing Facility Administrator, Robert Page.
His recommendation goes to the County Legislature for a vote on Tuesday.
