Corbin Whyte Sentenced to Prison
ITHACA, NY (WENY) -- The Ithaca man tried for murder three times in Tompkins County will spend time in prison on a different charge.
Corbin Whyte was sentenced in Tompkins County court Friday afternoon to two to four years for Tampering with Physical Evidence. He was convicted of the charge back in October, at his third homicide trial that ended up in a mistrial on murder and attempted robbery charges. Two previous trials also ended up with hung juries.
Whyte was accused in the shooting death of Paul Garcia back in 2010, after a reported drug-related robbery.
The Tompkins County District Attorney's Office has said it will not try to prosecute Whyte a fourth time.
