Cornell President Headed to Smithsonian

     ITHACA (WENY) --  The president of Cornell University has been named the next secretary of the Smithsonian Institution.

     David Skorton has been approved to lead the world's largest museum and research complex in Washington D.C.  His last day with Cornell will be June 30, 2015.

     Skorton called it an honor to be able to lead the Smithsonian Institute, saying it is one of our true national treasures.  The current president says he is also happy he will be able to see the university through the susquincentennial.

     University officials will form a search committee to choose the next Cornell  University  president.
