Corning (WENY) An annual event is getting people out of the house and ready for a night on the town.
Cabin Fever has taken over Corning's Gaffer District. The event was postponed from a snowstorm in February, but the crowds hit Market Street in downtown Corning tonight to beat the winter blues. The event focuses on getting people out to enjoy a night of shopping, eating and drinking during those cold winter months, and gives a boost to local businesses. Over 30 wineries and breweries from the Finger Lakes took part, and shops and restaurants stayed open late.
"It's just a lot of fun when you see everybody sort of getting out of the house for a night when the weather is still cold and they wouldn't normally come down to market street," said Sean Lukasik, a resident of Corning.
Owner of Market Street Coffee and Tea, Pam Weachock said, "we've been here for 8 years and still we've had so many that come through the door who go, 'oh I've never been here this is so cool I may come back,' so its great exposure for all of us."
This was the 10th year for the event.
