UPDATE: Man Hit by Train Identified

     THURSDAY UPDATE: Corning Police have identified the man hit and killed by a train yesterday afternoon as 25 year old Jacob Personius of Corning.
     Witnesses told police they saw him walking on the tracks as the train approached, sounding its horn. Police say the witnesses called out to him to warn him, but he did not respond.
     According to investigators, Personius was listening to music and had ear buds in at the time of the accident, and did not hear any of the warnings.

     CORNING - [WENY]     On Wednesday afternoon, a man was struck and killed by a train in Corning near Spruce Street and Bridge Street Extension.
     Authorities responded to the train tracks near the Spruce Street and Bridge Street Extension intersection for reports of a male struck by a train.
     According to the Corning Police Department, The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Steuben County Coroners office.
     Witnesses say the victim was walking west on the tracks, and was hit by the train from behind.
     Police believe no foul play was involved. More information is expected to be released tomorrow.
     WENY News spoke to a neighbor who lives nearby on Sly Street, he said he was asleep during the incident, but was woken up from the sounds of a very loud screeching sound coming from the train as it was attempting to stop.
