C-PP Teacher Arrested
LINDLEY, NY (WENY) -- A Southern Tier School teacher is accused of having explicit sexual conversations with students.
Thirty-one year old Kiley Maynard of Lindley is charged with four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, after a three month long investigation. The alleged conversations took place while Maynard was quote "acting in her duties as a teacher." Police say, at this time, there are no allegations of sexual contact.
Maynard is listed as a Biology teacher at Corning West High School on the District's website.
The Corning-Painted released this statement in response:
"Today, the Corning Painted]Post Area School District was informed by the New York State Police that Kiley Maynard, a teacher employed by the District at West High School, has been arrested and charged with four counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The District is reviewing its legal obligations and rights with its attorney and will continue to cooperate with the New York State Police and the Steuben County District Attorneyfs office, and for these reasons cannot comment further.
This teacher is currently on administrative leave.
As always, the safety of our students is and will remain to be the priority for the C]PP District. We understand parents may receive questions from their children about this allegation. Resources have been made available in the school for students who feel they need emotional support at this time. Parents are encouraged to contact the school principal for information about these resources."
