Restaurant Worker Accused of Skimming Credit Cards

HORSEHEADS, NY (WENY) -- An Elmira woman is accused of stealing credit card information from customers at a local restaurant where she worked.
Twenty-four year old Jasmine Irvin is charged with second degree identity theft, and unlawful possession of a skimmer device. New York State Police say Irvine worked at Friendly's Restaurant, and used a hand-held skimmer to copy customers' credit card information. She allegedly used that information to make more than a thousand dollars in illegal purchases.
State police say a skimming device can be as small as a lighter and fit in the palm of your hand, and customers should always know where their credit card is, even when paying at a restaurant.
