Dave Clark Foundation Fundraiser
BIG FLATS---(WENY) If you haven't wrapped up your Christmas shopping by now, you may consider giving the gift of local goods.
Doug Cornfield, Co-Founder of the Dave Clark Foundation had set up shop at the Arnot Mall, and says all proceeds are going to Dave Clarks D3-Disability, Dream , and Do Baseball and Hockey camps kids with special needs.
The camp features pro-style baseball and hockey practices for children and young adults with disabilities. The camp is set up at different locations nationally and provides a chance for participants to connect with young pro-athletes in the field.
Doug Cornfield's son Gideon has served as an inspiration for him to partner up with Dave Clark after being born with under developed arms.
Dave Clark was born and raised in Corning and is the only professional Baseball player to play with crutches. He was born with Polio and played as a pitcher for several minor league teams from 1971 to 1981.
Cornfield talked about some of the goods they're offering and said, "This year we're featuring local coffee, roasted locally from from the Heavenly Cup Roasters in Gangmills and Painted Post. We have local honey that we've gotten from a couple of different apiaries from the Woodhull and Penn Yan areas. Our syrup is coming out of Ithaca, the Ithaca, NY area."
Christmas Eve may be the last day the stand will be open, depending on their inventory, but if you would like to learn more about the Dave Clark Foundation or donate to the D-3 camp, visit www.daveclarkfoundation.org.
