The Steuben County Sheriff's office says one woman is dead after a crash Monday evening in the Town of Fremont.

     Authorities say it happened just before 6:00pm on Interstate 86. 69-year-old Sharon Thompson of Loda, Illinois was trapped underneath an overturned car and she pronounced dead at the scene. She was a passenger in the car driven by 79-year-old Raymond Thompson. who was towing a U-Haul trailer which overturned.

     The driver of the other car, 52-year-old Deborah Smith of Arkport was treated at the scene. Police blame operator error and slippery roads.
