DEC New Boat Regulations

January 13, 2014
New York (WENY) - The fight to protect New York’s natural beauties from invasive species continues this morning. New York's Department of Conservation is changing the way people launch boats.

Now boats and trailers must be completely drained, including live wells bait wells and bilge tanks and then dried before being used in another body of water. These new rules are in an effort to stop invasive species like Hydrilla from spreading further and destroying New York's Finger Lakes.
