Early Morning Fire In Horseheads Damages Several Businesses

      HORSEHEADS---(WENY) Investigators have been on the scene at Grand Central Plaza in Horseheads since this morning trying to find out what sparked the fire that spread from Grand Central Fitness to neighboring businesses.
     The Horseheads Fire Department received a call for a structure fire at 3:13am Wednesday. When they got to the scene, Fire Chief Art Sullivan said there were heavy flames coming out of grand central fitness, which sustained the bulk of the damage.
     Horseheads Fire Chief, Arthur Sullivan said, "Part of the roof had collapsed. We went inside and finished the attack and put out the fire. There's structural damage inside, adjoining had smoke and water damage, such as K-mart."    
     Dark Tan, the offices of Grand Central Plaza, and the Airco Party Central also sustained damages. Those businesses along with K-Mart are currently closed, but the rest of the shops at Grand Central Plaza remain open for business.
    Chief Sullivan says it took crews about an hour-and-a-half to put out the fire. He reports no one was injured. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

UPDATE: As of February 20, fire investigators had still not determined a cause.  The case has been handed over the police department which is standard procedure.
