ELMIRA HEIGHTS---(WENY) The Elmira Heights Central School District isn't sitting still for school cuts. Over the weekend, 635 people came out to rally at Thomas Edison Highschool. It's all in an effort to get lawmakers in Albany to fight for the School District. The District has already cut 20% of its workforce and has downsized programs like Arts, Music, and Athletics. The School District also shares its Director of Facilities with Horseheads, among other things. They are now calling for lawmakers to eliminate the GEA and restore foundation aid, as well as mandated state health insurance and pension contributions, and substantive mandate relief.
