Elmira Man Charged with Attempted Homicide
ELMIRA, NY (WENY) -- An Elmira man picked up by police last week on a gun charge is now accused of Attempted Homicide.
Twenty-five year old Joshua Demellier was arraigned on the upgraded charges in Chemung County Court Friday morning. Elmira police say the charge stems from a shooting that happened on Sullivan Street in Elmira on June 1st. When officers arrived on scene, they found a victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Police arrested Demellier on June 8th, after he allegedly ran from a car police had stopped. Officers also found a loaded revolver. He was originally charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The victim of the shooting hasn't been identified.
