ELMIRA, NY (WENY)---If you live in Elmira, you may have experienced a brief power surge Monday morning. NYSEG officials say a bird is to blame.

Around 7 o'clock Monday morning, a bird contacted wires at the Hillside substation in Elmira causing the surge.

NYSEG officials say the surge did not interrupt service and there are currently no outages. Officials say the bird probably did not make it.
