Find Your Style Strenghthen your Heart

PAINTED POST -- [WENY] Deanie Knowles of Haircolor Masters and Rejuvenating Day Spa lost her mother to a heart attack and celebrated her legacy tonight through a fundraiser for the American Heart Association. She calls it the first annual event "Find Your Style, Strengthen Your Heart."
Deanie "goes red" for women every year, donating one percent of all proceeds to the American Heart association for the month of February.
But this year, she decided to go even bigger for a cause that's very near and dear to her.
For a $20 donation, guests got salon and spa services ranging from facials, massages, paraffin wraps, and manicures.
Salon staff were also assisted by adult nail students from the GST BOCES in Elmira.
Also on hand were Snap Fitness and Weight Watchers doling out healthy tips and deals on services.
For Deanie, the number one reason why she does the event is to educate women.
"The cause is very important to me because back in 2006 I lost my own mother to a heart attack at the age of 62," said Knowles.
Anna Calkins and Kelly Ayers went to the event together and thought of it as a girl's night out for a good cause.
The cause is very personal to them as well because they've lost close family members to heart disease.
"Snap Fitness and Weight Watchers are two good tools to use to keep yourself healthy," said Calkins.
"So we've learned a lot and are helping to support Deanie," said Ayers.
Deanie say's she lost a considerable amount of weight after her mother's death because her doctor told her that's how she could try and prevent tragedy from hitting her family once again.
Now, she's made it a priority to help other women lead healthier lives.
