High-Speed Internet Expansion In Tompkins County
25-percent of Tompkins County’s geographic area does not have high-speed internet
ITHACA, NY (WENY)---High-speed internet could be coming to unserved portions of Tompkins County soon.
The Tompkins County legislature has thrown their unanimous support behind a proposal by Clarity Connect Incorporated. The company is seeking $3million from the state economic development councils to bring high-speed internet to the unserved areas of Tompkins and Cayuga counties.
A recent study finds, more than a quarter of Tompkins County's geographic area does not have high-speed internet. The state economic development councils have made $25million available to expand broadband service across the Empire state.
