Corning (WENY) - Market Street is home to some of the oldest buildings in the area. Tonight Corning city council designated three of them as historic landmarks. Council members approved the buildings at 18, 20 and 22 West Market street to be designated as historic. In the 1970's Tommy Hilfiger had a store in 18 West Market street, and the architecture of both 20 and 22 West Market was also deemed historic. The Chair of the Corning Historic Preservation Commission, Tom Dimitroff says the idea is to try and prevent any decay or damage to the building, and preserve the overall look of Market street.
“This large a chunk happen all at once I think is a a large statement and it's a big commitment to the idea of historic preservation,” says Tom.
