Honor Flight Comes To The Twin Tiers
ELMIRA---(WENY) Some area veterans will take to the friendly skies in April for a trip with a very special meaning. The area's first ever Honor Flight is taking off April 12th.
Fifty area veterans who served in World War two, the Korean War, and Terminally ill vets will fly from Binghamton Airport to Washington DC.
The vets will take buses to visit the world war two, Korean, and possibly the Vietnam War memorials. They'll also stop by Arlington National Cemetery for the Changing of the Guards.
The project is being spear-headed by DeAnna Deneen, President of Twin Tiers Honor fight. It's being sponsored by Tioga Downs owner and CEO Jeff Gural.
Deneen is very passionate about Honor Flight and says, "Most of the people that live throughout the country, who are these humble veterans, never make it to their memorials, because it's too far for them to go. Without honor flight, they would never go there."
Gural says, "We have room for a few more, so if anyone is listening and knows a veteran of World War Two, or the Korean War, or even the vietnam war. Hopefully, we'll fill the plane."
If you know a vet who would like to participate and want more details on how to apply, visit: http://www.honorflight.org/ , fill out an application, and/or contact DeAnna Deneen at firstname.lastname@example.org
