Horseheads Police Chief Retires


HORSEHEADS (WENY) -- Horseheads Police Department announced today that Chief Michael Barton will be retiring after 21 years of Service.
     Barton was promoted to chief in November 2006 but began his career as a officer in 1993.
     During his tenure with the village, he served in many capacities.
     He was also a member of the Horseheads Fire Department for over 20 years serving as President.
     Current Fire Chief Art Sullivan says Barton is a hardworking man who cares about the safety of the village.
     "He is very dedicated to the village of horseheads," said Fire Chief Sullivan. "He made sure his officers were prepared, he keeps his officers on duty and he keeps are village very secure."
     Chief Barton will officially retire on July 9th.
