Horseheads School Buses Need New Lifts
Thye project will cost around $630,000
The Horseheads School District voted to allocate over six hundred and thirty thousand dollars of un-appropriated money to replace four school bus lifts. The decision was made at the School Board meeting Thursday night. The cost is an estimate based on what Elmira paid to replace two school bus lifts last year. The project will still have to go out for bid. Horseheads superintendent Ralph Marino says the lifts were 20 years old and had already had emergency repairs made to them a few months ago. The state department of education will reimburse the district for 83 percent of the project cost, but that repayment will be over a fifteen year period.
