Husband and Wife Charged in Ithaca Robberies
ITHACA, NY (WENY) -- Ithaca police arrested two suspects in in three robberies last night.
Police charged 44-year-old Troy Kastenhuber of Ithaca with robbery and attempted robbery; he's now in the Tompkins County jail without bail.
Police say around 6:30 Sunday night, Kastenhuber walked into the Byrne Dairy on Meadow Street, and tried to rob the store with a knife. He ran off without any money. About 15 minutes later, he's accused of robbing the Citgo gas station on North Fulton Street using a knife, and making off with cash. Police arrested him at his apartment around 6 this morning.
In a separate robbery a little before 3 this morning, 39-year-old Wendy Kastenhuber allegedly handed a note to a female employee at the Tops Market in Ithaca, demanding money and cigarettes. She also allegedly pulled a knife and threatened the employee. The worker sounded an alarm and Kastenhuber ran from the store, but police caught her.
Police say Troy and Wendy Kastenhuber are husband and wife.
