ITHACA---(WENY) A suspect is on the loose after police respond to reports of gunshots fired and a victim reports being shot in the rear.

      The Ithaca Police Department responded to a call on Oak Ave. around 1:30 Tuesday morning. Both Ithaca Police and Cornell Police searched the area Authorities spoke with several residents there who reported hearing four to five gunshots. No suspects were found, however, a dark colored was seen leaving the area after the shots were fired.

     Around 2:00am, police responded to a report of a man who suffered a gunshot wound at 503 Hancock St. Authorities say the victim, who's name has not been released ,was concious and walking. The man told police he had been shot in the rear by a man he didn't know in the area of 100 Oak Ave. The victim was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
