Dixon Convicted of Manslaughter in Death of Girlfriend
BATH, NY (WENY) -- The verdict is in for the Steuben County man accused of killing his former girlfriend in 2011.
A Steuben County jury found Joseph Dixon guilty of first degree manslaughter, but did not convict him of the more serious charge, second degree murder.
Prosecutors say Dixon killed his former girlfriend, 53-year-old Delores Warner, whose body was found beaten in her Corning home in November 2011. Dixon was Warner's former live-in boyfriend. The jury started deliberations Monday, and reached a verdict Tuesday afternoon.
A first degree manslaughter conviction carries a sentence up to 25 years in prison.
