Local Leaders Fight for Road Funding

March 5, 2014

ALBANY, NY (WENY) -- State Senator Tom O'Mara, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano and a coalition of state lawmakers in the Senate and Assembly are asking Governor Cuomo to increase funding for roads and bridges.
Money would come from the Consolidated Highway Improvement Program, also known as CHIPS and a new dedicated fund.
A news conference is scheduled for 9:30A.M. this morning at the State Capitol to talk about options.
Topping the list of concerns is the deteriorating condition of state roads and bridges. Numerous reports have highlighted the decline of New York's transportation infrastructure and its had an impact on economic development and driver safety.
