Making SUNY School's Green
January 24, 2013
New York (WENY) - Governor Cuomo is trying to make New York colleges “more green”. He announced energy efficiency projects at ten SUNY campuses.
The partnership between the New York Power Authority and the State University of New York could save the universities $3.5 Million a year. This is a part of the Governor's Build Smart NY initiative which seeks to reduce energy use at state-owned or managed facilities by 20 percent by 2020. The projects will reduce the university systems peak energy use by about 3.6 megawatts, enough to power over 3,000 homes.
