New Charges Against Alfred Bank Robber
ALFRED---(WENY) TheWellsville man charged in an Alfred bank robbery that led police on a high speed chase on and around Alfred State University has been hit with new charges.
Alfred Police have already charged 51-year-old Scott Wade with two felonies of robbery in the third degree and grand larceny in the third degree. Now, they've added unlawful fleeing the police and several vehicle and traffic violations. Additionally, New York State police have added to the stack of charges against Wade with a felony charge of falsely reporting an incident in the first degree, for making a bomb threat to the Alfred Almond School.
Police say Wade robbed the Community Bank on North Main in Alfred on Friday, February 1st. After leaving the bank with over 12-thousand dollars, Wade allegedly crossed the street to the Alfred University campus where he parked his car. After a high speed chase, he was taken into custody.
Wade is also the suspect in other bank robberies in the Binghampton area. He was processed and arraigned on the additional charges in the Village of Alfred Court and is being held in the Allegany County Jail with $100,000.00 bail.
