New Ithaca Police K-9 Unit
ITHACA (WENY) – Another K-9 unit will soon be in action, this time in Ithaca. The city police department is restarting its K-9 program.
Officers will pick the K-9 for the program next month, and follow with an 8-week training. The new dog will be able to detect explosives, find missing people and help with building searches.
Officials did not specify the costs of the program but say it is being paid for by a Homeland Security grant and private donations.
