Southern Tier (WENY) - New money from a local business will go along way towards helping build a new trail in the town of Chemung along the river. $4,500 from Access Midstream, an Oklahoma gas pipeline company with an office in Horseheads is going to the friends of the Chemung River Watershed.
The plan is to build the trail on-top of the former canal along the Chemung River. It will run from the White Wagon Boat Launch behind the CVS distribution center, to the former White Wagon Bridge and give easy access for hikers, cyclists, runners and cross-country skiers. In the future plans include installing info kiosks and signs along the trail like an outdoor classroom for areas schools.
