Home Explosion Investigation Continues
HORSEHEADS, NY (WENY)---An investigation into the January 2011 explosion at 198 Joseph Street in Horseheads has found damage to NYSEG facilities, described as "third party damage".
Work to repair the damage started Tuesday. Crews will be digging up and examining 100 hundred natural gas services in the town and village. NYSEG already replaced gas mains and relined services in the Mayfair plot area of Horseheads.
The house at 198 Joseph Street exploded back in January 2011 after neighbors complained of a natural gas odor. A toddler, Benjamen Reed, was killed in that explosion.
