ELMIRA HEIGHTS (WENY) -- It was a gorgeous day on Saturday for a motorcycle ride and over 150 riders took advantage of it, all to honor our veterans.
Riders from New Jersey to Canada met outside the American Legion in Elmira Heights on Saturday morning for the Wounded Warrior Ride. They took a four and a half hour ride around Seneca Lake to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Fund.
You might have caught two of the American Legion Riders on our show last week, Dave and Mark. We spoke with Mark VanAttajust before they took off, as he told us his inspiration for riding.
"Let's take care of these warriors, they take care of us and now it's time to pay it back," said VanAtta.
And Dave, the other rider on our show last week, sadly suffered from a heart attack just before the ride. They parked his motorcycle to the side and decorated it with signs of well wishes, adding another meaning to Saturday's event. We're told he is recovering and should be ok.
