Parents Voice Bullying Concerns
ELMIRA - [WENY] During an Elmira City School District board meeting, several parents voiced their concerns about alleged repeated bullying incidents, and the lack of action taken upon bullies by the district.
Barbara-Lee McCarty is a parent of an ECSD student, she spoke at the Wednesday night meeting regarding her concerns that her son was getting repeatedly bullied . She says that she was appalled by a solution that was allegedly proposed by ECSD Superintendent Hillary Austin during a one on one meeting regarding her son.
Barbara-Lee McCarty said, "I came in on Monday, and I had a meeting with Hillary herself and her conclusion was, lets move him to a different district."
After the school board meeting, Superintendent Austin was unavailable for a comment. Board President Sara Lattin declined to comment, because the issue was sensitive.
