Patterson Bridge Closed in Corning
CORNING, NY (WENY) -- The latest phase of construction started today on the Patterson Bridge in Corning.
The eastbound lane of the bridge closed to traffic at 7AM Monday. The westbound lane has been closed since August.
The bridge is undergoing a $19.4 million replacement. It connects the city of Corning to Riverside across the Chemung River. Traffic will be detoured using exit 46 off Interstate 86; drivers can also use Pulteney Street in the city of Corning.
The bridge typically sees about 17,000 cars a day. It's expected to reopen in May 2014.
