Man Charged with Attempted Murder after Police Shootout
CHEMUNG, NY (WENY) -- An Elmira man is charged with attempted murder after police say he fired shots at them.
Twenty-two year old Travis Fedock is charged with two counts of attempted murder, following a reported gun battle. Sheriff's deputies intially responded to reports of a domestic dispute at a home on Snell Road in Chemung that had turned physical. The home belonged to Travis' father, 44 year old Stephen Fedock, Jr., and his girlfriend, Leslie Kinney. Authorities say Travis Fedock fled that scene before they arrived, and went to his grandmother's house on West Squires Road, where a call came in to 911 that shots were fired at that residence.
When deputies and state police arrived at that home, they encountered Stephen Fedock, Jr. Police say Travis Fedock was hiding in the tree line when they arrived, and started shooting. Officers returned fire, though no one was hit.
Police say Stephen Fedock was able to disarm Travis Fedock, and officers were able to take him into custody, with a struggle involved. Travis Fedock is now in the Chemung County jail, where more charges are pending.
During the investigation, authorities say 41 year old William Fedock arrived on scene, and was intoxicated and had a shotgun in his vehicle. He was charged with DWI and released.
