Painted Post (WENY) - Pookie's Little Britches Consignment Store in Painted Post is moving, and the owner is using the opportunity to bring new life to a building that's been vacant for more than a decade. This large 60,000 square foot building on Victory Highway was once the home of Ames discount department store. It's been vacant for more than a decade and now, Pookie's owner Valerie Rook wants to change it into a place where small businesses can set up shop, and call it the "Victory Highway Galleria of Shops." Six businesses have already reserved space, and Valerie is looking for more. She says its a great way to revitalize the old building and get the community involved.
“I want to bring it back to life and give the opportunity to other businesses to start their own business. This is my tenth year in business as Pookie's Little Britches and I'm here to help people also and on the weekends I want to fill it up with vendors,” says Rook.
Space is available for $3 a square foot for three months at a time. Valerie is looking for volunteers to donate supplies and help clean up the building.
