Reaction to Corning Free Academy Sale
The building is expected to be turned over in June 2014
CORNING N.Y--(WENY-TV)-- At Wednesdays school board meeting the board accepted the results of yesterday's vote, where residents approved the sale of the Corning Free Academy building. Students will continue to attend the school through June of next year. WENY spoke with Superintendent Michael Ginalski after tonight's meeting. He says the focus now is moving people, and making sure the building is ready its next chapter.
WENY also spoke with a representative from MSP Realty of Watertown, there the company planning to buy the building. She tells me that the company hopes to take control of the building as soon as students leave, and immediately begin turning the building into between 55 and 60 apartments.
She said the company would soon begin working on a remediation survey of the building which will help give them an idea of what rehab work needs to be done on the building.
