Reed Admits to Paying Taxes Late
WASHINGTON, DC (WENY) -- Congressman Tom Reed admits he was late on his property taxes... 38 times.
The Buffalo News reports that Reed paid more than 3-thousand dollars in interest and penalties for his properties in Steuben and Chemung counties- that includes his home.
Reed serves on the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee in the House of Representatives. He says he's made at least 500 property tax payments since 2005.
"My most critical, important thing that we do is pay our taxes and we did. And some of them, 38 of them, were paid late. I accept that. We'll deal with that, and strive to improve," Reed said on a media conference call Monday morning.
Reed also tells us he expects to deal with this issue a lot during the upcoming campaign season.
