Rep. Reed Visits Nucor-Vulcraft
Congressman Inspects Solar Project
CHEMUNG, NY (WENY) -- Southern Tier Representative, Tom Reed, was in Chemung County today. The Congressman toured the Nucor-Vulcraft plant in Chemung.
Nucor Vice President, Mike Heine, took Reed to the roof to show off some of the eight thousand solar panels being installed on the plant. Heine estimates, when the project is done, the plant will get about one-sixth of its power from the American-made panels.
Reed says the project illustrates innovation in American manufacturing. He told reporters, "it's about making it here, and selling it there. That's what we're committed to, and that's what guys like Mike are demonstrating to us every day: That they can do the old fashioned hard work of U.S. manufacturing on our soil."
Vulcraft makes steel joists and decking and sells it around the world.
