Santa’s Helpers Deliver Gifts

HORSEHEADS (WENY) -- Some of Santa's little helpers came out in full force today at the Village of Horseheads Fire Department to help deliver some of the Arctic League's Christmas Gifts to children in need.
201 packages of toys went out to kids living in Northern Chemung County.
"We're really not firefighters today. We are working for the Arctic League today. This is a tradition that we do that the firemen help out with," said Horseheads Fire Chief Arthur Sullivan.
Local firefighters and their families have been helping out here in Horseheads for over 50 years.
"It's a feeling that we want to do it for the people. We volunteer to help people, but this is just another way of helping the people," said Chief Sullivan.
For Horseheads Trustee, Mike Skroskznik and his family, this is what Christmas is all about.
"It's nice to go out as a family, it's fun," said Cameron Skroskznik. "It's Christmas Eve. It's nice to give back to people."
The idea is for all the gifts to get there before the rest of Santa's gifts are delivered. The Arctic League is always looking for volunteers to help deliver gifts tomorrow morning at headquarters in Elmira.
If you want to help deliver these gifts, just show up with your ID to headquarters at 249 West Clinton Street. Doors open around 6:00 a.m.
