 WASHINGTON---(WENY)With Nearly 1.8 million New Yorkers earning minimum wage or just above, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is pushing for an increase to federal minimum wage. Senator Gillibrand wants the minimum wage increase from $7.25 to $10.10 an hour over the next three years, with future increases indexed to the rate of inflation. The push comes as New York is on the brink of agreeing to increase the State minimum wage to $9.00 an hour over the next 3 years.
