Several Guns Stolen

HORSEHEADS (WENY) --- Police say a burglar or burglars broke in to Scott's Guns and Accessories in Horseheads around 3:00 this morning and stole several guns.
The owner, Scott Bailey says security cameras were rolling and they captured what appears to be a man in a light colored hoodie. A suspect saw the camera and swatted it off to the side.
Unlike most of the recent burglaries in the area, there was no attempt to take the cash register or any money in it. But the thieves got away with about $30,000 worth of guns.
Bailey says he's more worried that those guns are now on the street. This is the second time someone broke into his shop. When it happened last month, Police caught the robber in the act. He's now out on bail.
Police are offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
"It's a concern for us because now we have several handguns and potentially other weapons that are out on the street unaccounted for that could be in the hands of criminals obviously," said Horseheads Police Chief Michael Barton. "So, it serves a public safety concern as well as an officer safety concern."
If you have any information you can call the Horseheads Police Department at 607-735-8600 or the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms at 585-987-2100.
