The flu epidemic has hit the country hard, and doctors say a vaccine is the best defense against the miserable disease.

Twin Tiers (WENY) - The flu epidemic has hit the country hard, and doctors say a vaccine is the best defense against the miserable disease. But locally there has been a shortage of the shot. Some major pharmacy chains including Wegmans say they are running low or are completely out of the flu vaccine.
      A Wegmans representative said the their pharmacies are getting new shipments everyday. Some like Frank Steed from Geroulds Pharmacy in Elmira believe we are at the peak of demand for the vaccine.
     “I think we're probably at peak time and that the majority of the people are affected by the flu season this probably will start to taper of the next few weeks,” says Steed.
     Doctors say if you think you have the flu, Drink fluids, rest and stay away from large groups of people to avoid passing the illness to others.
