String of Burglaries in Ithaca

ITHACA (WENY)--  Two break-ins at one location. The first, Saturday night at the Warehouse Carpet Outlet on the city's West end.
The next one early Sunday morning.
"There's money as well as miscellaneous items. Laptop, computer, a couple other things," said Officer Jamie Williamson.
And it didn't stop there. Minutes later, glass doors at 902 Taber Street were broken into. Followed by a break in at the Ithaca Grain and Pet Supply Store.
"We ask folks to take the standard precautions to make sure your businesses are safe. and if you can, get an alarm. They really help out," said Officer Williamson.
Police believe it's just one suspect. They say he is black with an athletic build. He was  wearing a light colored sweater, jeans and black sneakers. The suspect used a shirt to cover his face.
The Piggery in Ithaca was broken into in July. Investigators say the circumstances are pretty similar to the string of burglaries this past weekend.
"They do have a lot of commonalities. We're keeping our eyes and ears open about everything. certainly the evidence points us in one direction: that it's the same person," said Officer Williamson.
In the meantime, The Piggery has stepped up security drastically.
"To have something like this happen, it just hurts. And to hear that it's happening to other people feels really bad because it was such a shock to our little community," said Megan Carey, Office Manager at the Piggery.
