CORNING (WENY) -- Businesses on Market Street in Corning are collecting as much toilet paper as they can get their hands on for the sixth annual "Thomas Crapper Day".
Businesses on Market Street in Corning's Gaffer District will be collecting rolls of toilet paper on Monday, January 27, to benefit the Corning Community Food Pantry.
Customers donating rolls of toilet paper at the participating businesses will receive freebies, discounts and special promotions. Donate a roll of toilet paper and get a free cup of coffee at Market Street Coffee and Tea!
Last year they donated over 350 rolls of toilet paper for local residents in need. Toilet paper can't be purchased with food stamps, so the pantry is often the only place people can get it. They hope to reach their goal of over 200 rolls.
The Corning Community Food Pantry is located at 39 West William Street in Corning and is open Monday and Tuesday from 9:00AM-11:45AM, Wednesday from 10AM-Noon, Thursday and Friday from Noon-2:45PM and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 10AM-Noon. Their mission is to directly serve local residents who suffer from hunger within the Corning area.
