Susquehanna River Flood Stage to Rise in Valley
BINGHAMTON (WENY) -- The National Weather Service is changing the criteria for issuing flood warnings on the Susquehanna River in part of Bradford County.
The flood stage in the Waverly-Sayre area will be raised from 11 to 13 feet, beginning September 9th. The change comes after major flooding in the Valley in 2006, then again in 2011.
The NWS says flood impacts on that area have always happened at higher stages. Flood warnings will now be issued at 13 feet. Moderate and Major flood stages aren't changing.
