Reed Jr. Murder Suspect in Custody
CLYMER, NY (WENY) -- Authorities say the main suspect in the murder of a Western New York man and former Assistant Principal in the Southern Tier is in police custody.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office says 42 year-old Anthony Robert Taglianetti was captured Friday in Virginia.
Taglianetti is the only suspect in the murder of Keith Reed Jr. Reed held a job as a school district Superintendent in Western New York and has ties to several communities across the Twin Tiers.
Police say Taglianetti's car was spotted by the U.S. Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force and a local police in Shenandoah County, Virginia around 4 o'clock Friday. Mr. Taglianetti was taken into custody without incident.
Earlier Friday, police said they were looking for a car filled with camping and survival equipment. Hours later, Taglianetti was found near the Shenandoah National Park.
Investigators believe Taglianetti drove from Virginia to Western New York to kill Reed last week. Reed's body was found on Monday with multiple gunshot wounds about 100 yards from his home in Clymer, New York.
Reed earned his Master's degree at Mansfield University and was an Assistant Principal in the Horseheads and Campbell-Savona school districts before taking the Superintendent position in Clymer.
Police say there was a personal issue between the two men, but declined to divulge a motive.
