UPDATE 10-29-12: The man killed in the crash is identified as 90 year old Charles Tate of Horseheads.

HORSEHEADS (WENY) -- An SUV, possibly driving on the wrong side of the road, collided head-on with a large truck shortly after 7:00pm  Friday night on I-86 in Horseheads, just east of exit 54.

Police would not confirm a fatality, but told a WENY-TV photographer to leave the scene for the removal of a body.

Debris was all over the road and eastbound traffic was backed up for at least a mile.

Police haven't released any details as to the number of passengers in each vehicle, any injuries, the nature of the crash, or what may have caused it.

Chemung County Sheriff's Deputies, New York State Police, the Department of Transportation, Horseheads Police and Town and Country Fire Department were on scene for at least an hour cleaning up and assisting with the traffic buildup.
