$43 Million Proposed Pipeline Project
STEUBEN CO. (WENY) -- A national gas company wants to build a major natural gas pipeline through several Steuben County communities. The 17-mile pipeline would run through Tuscarora, Lindley and Caton.
If approved, the new gas line would connect the exisisting Empire Pipeline to a gas storage station in Tuscarora. Project leaders say this could potentially create about 240 temporary construction jobs, but they did not know if any permanent jobs would be created.
The $43 million dollar project is still waiting on approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Leaders hope to start construction in the spring of 2015 and get service up and running by November that same year.
