Yaw Pleads Guilty in Brutal Assault

WATKINS GLEN, NY (WENY) -- A Trumansburg man pleaded guilty to an attack that left his father in a coma for several months.
Schuyler County District Attorney Joe Fazzary says 19-year-old Andrew Yaw pleaded guilty in court today to first and second degree assault.  Yaw admitted beating his father, Hector town board member Clifford Yaw, in February with a metal level, causing multiple skull fractures. Andrew Yaw also admitted to assaulting an inmate in the Schuyler County jail in June.
He now faces up to 20 years in prison for the assault of his father, and two years on the second charge.
